The Kilbride Nature Sanctuary Monarch Waystation Project is a collaborative effort to create a thriving habitat that supports every stage of the monarch butterfly’s life cycle. A Monarch Waystation is a managed native garden or meadow designed to provide monarchs with the milkweed they need for laying eggs and raising caterpillars, as well as nectar rich wildflowers to fuel their incredible migration. At Kilbride, this large scale restoration will establish a diverse native meadow along the Tennessee River corridor, offering food, shelter, and safe passage for monarchs and other pollinators for generations to come.
Goal:
- Establish a resilient native meadow and monarch corridor that supports eggs, caterpillars, and migrating adults.
